Meschac Gaba Following the critique by many contemporary artists towards exhibitions in which art works are again and again employed to simply illustrate a curator?s personal fixation,Exhibitions of an Exhibition starts on the opposite end and does not state any concept, theme or idea that ties the pieces and artists together. The exhibition does not try to 'resolve' how the work might fit together. Rather, it brings the work and artists together in a way that leads one to consider the relationships that manifest themselves in the configuration of the works. The invited group of artists represents an entirely subjective selection of contemporary work that Hoffmann has brought together for the first time. In reversal of common curatorial methods four curators have been invited to reflect on the selection and write a short thesis answering the question of how they see the works and the artists who created them in relation to each other. By doing so, each curator, necessarily, begins to curate her/his own exhibition. Despite including the exact same artists and works, the result will be four different exhibition concepts based on a prearranged selection of artists. Each concept will be presented as a text in the gallery space along with the works of art. The following curators have been invited: ?
