1. About this wednesday. at 7:00 pm.

This monday is becoming a wednesday! Hope you can make it*

We will be screening (presenting) some of the works of two Israeli artists
who are curretly residing in New York. We met through the screening of Avi
Mograbi already last year. and some of us have seen the recent show at
postmasters, in which Guy showed Moby Dick, or earlier at the Kitchen
"Real Estate" Performance by Mariano. The artists will be present for a
discussion afterwards.

2. About Guy Ben-Ner

Guy Ben-Ner studied art at Hamidrasha B.E.D. art school, in Tel Aviv, and
at Columbia University (MFA Program). in 2001 he relocated from Tel Aviv
to New York. His work was shown in Israel, France, Germany and recently at
Postmasters Gallery in New York, the Brewster project and at Momenta Art
in Brooklyn.

3. About Mariano Weinstein

Mariano Weinstein studied music at the Tel-Aviv Academy of Music, Israel
and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, The Netherlands. Weinstein has
composed and performed pieces for festivals, television, dance, and
theater in Israel and Europe; he has also performed at the Kitchen and at
the Downtown Art Festival, New York. Most recently he has been working on
Video projects, involving Politics in a humorous manner.

Moby Dick, 7 min
A silent movie, home made Slapstick.
A great narrative is set in the family kitchen, a place, so it appears,
big enough to contain it. The director has to do with what is at home,
including his kids as actors and the kitchen as a ship. Just as the great
Ahab is willing to sacrifice his entire crew in order to fulfill his
desire (to catch Moby Dick), so is the director, with his own crew, in
order to fulfill his desire (to get the movie done).
Sea adventures usually begin with the hero leaving his family on shore and
sailing to the sea. The director is realizing the fantasy to get rid of
his family while using their help.

ELIA- The story of Ostrich chick, 20 min (excerpt)
A nature documentary following the director's family playing the parts of
an Ostrich family/flock. migrating/immigrating to a new territory, seeking
for the "natural" way of living. A movie screened backwards.

House Hold, 10 min
Accidentally, the director is trapped under his baby son's crib. As a
silent film hero trapped inside a "talking movie", nobody seems to notice
him. The movie is following his desperate and heroic attempts to get out.

Live from the Mingle Feast, 7 min
"A News broadcast from the Mingle Feast (not to be mixed with the middle
east) is transformed into a tongue twisted political satire. it is
inspired by the News Jargon, especially the way media covers the so called
middle east. are we in Jerusalem? maybe. the landscape behind the
reporters looks familiar. "

Copyright 10 min
A fictional documantary about the interior design of the executives
floor in a new york based company 'copyright'
the artist had a one day access to the reuters Headquarters/times square
shortly after the slick design was built (2001). An interior that reminds
us of many of New York's Corporations Interiors offices. is it a critique
of manhattan architecture? or the corporations behind it?

Alkuds-Polipopipop (excerpt from performance)
Dance/performance with a provocative/cynical look at the vulgar aspects
of israeli culture as transmitted live on stage from the imaginary channel
Alkuds. a T.V. station on Stage, with polipopipop: cultural, gastronomic,
news, sports, political discussions, and pop music.
Weinstein performed, wrote and composed this as a collaboration with
Dancer/choreographer Emanuel Gat.
