ULISES RUIZ AND FELIPE CALDERÓN STRIKE HUMAN RIGHTS IN OAXACA WITH THE COUP DE GRÂCE

If by nature the presence of the encampments of the Federal Preventative Police (PFP) in public places and the night patrols of the police forces and paramilitaries was aggressive, now that the patrols are done in the plain of day, this city, declared as a cultural patrimony of humanity, is a true war zone. To Oaxaca citizens, it is now not only that we have been captivated by the right to protest, but that we live in a literal state of siege. The violence in the state is unleashed. The enormous number of vehicles carrying members of the PFP patrolling the city is impressive, in addition to the innumerable personal vehicles without license plates that continue picking up and shooting people.

They have, today, taken away 5 people, with violence.
Besides the arbitrarily detained compañeros and compañeros this past Saturday, in a incident of great violation of human rights by the state and federal government, 107 men and 64 women, indigenous and mestizos and mestizas, were transferred to the prison of San José del Rincón, Nayarit, moving them thus away from their families.
Today, ministerial police assassinated, at point blank range, a bus driver who was from the Sierra region, and up to now, his name is unknown.
Students of the Faculty of Medicine of the "Benito Juárez" Autonomous University of Oaxaca (UABJO) who were giving a press conference to repudiate the current events were attacked at approximately 15:30 today with bursts of fire from high powered weapons. From there, they carried away a compañero.
The entrance of the police to Radio Universidad is imminent, to continue with the detainments.
Police squads are checking vehicles in the vicinity of the university [UABJO].
Yesterday the building where the offices of the organization 'New Oaxaca Left' were located was burned.
As night draws near, the denouncements of aggressions and arbitrary detainments increase.

In Oaxaca, there is no freedom for protest, nor for the free expresions of ideas, nor of transit, communications, information and organization…but rather, those that support Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, and his thugs, henchmen and hit men are granted total impunity to hit, kill, take, burn and even have a clandestine [illegal] radio station.

We make a call:

· To international and national human rights organizations to come out against these lamentable events;
· To international organizations to continue protesting at the embassies and consulates of our country and to pressure their governments to break commercial relations with Mexico for being country which openly violates human rights;
· To national syndicates and organizations to carry out conclusive [alt. trans.: convicing; heavy] actions to avoid this situation being provoked further by the arrival of Felipe Calderón.

ULISES RUIZ Y FELIPE CALDERÓN DAN EL TIRO DE GRACIA A LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS EN OAXACA

Si de por sí era agresiva la presencia de los campamentos de la PFP en lugares públicos y los patrullajes nocturnos de cuerpos policíacos y paramilitares, ahora que los patrullajes se dan a plena luz del día, esta ciudad, declarada patrimonio cultural de la humanidad, en una verdadera zona de guerra. A l@s ciudadan@s oaxaqueñ@s ya no solo se nos arrebató el derecho a manifestarnos, sino que vivimos un literal estado de sitio. La violencia del estado está desatada. Es impresionante la enorme cantidad de vehículos con elementos de la PFP patrullando la ciudad, además de los incontables vehículos particulares sin placas que siguen levantando gente y disparando contra el pueblo.

· Por lo menos hoy se han llevado a 5 personas con todo lujo de violencia.
· Además de la arbitrariedad con que fueron detenid@s l@s compa ñer@s el pasado sábado, en un hecho más de violación a los derechos humanos por parte de los gobiernos estatal y federal, 107 hombres y 64 mujeres, indígenas y mestiz@s, fueron trasladad@s al penal de San José del Rincón, Nayarit, alejando así a l@s compañer@s de sus familias.
· Este día, policías ministeriales asesinaron a quemarropa a un conductor de autobús, perteneciente a la región de la Sierra, aún se desconoce su nombre.
· Estudiantes de la Facultad de Medicina de la UABJO que se encontraban dando una conferencia de prensa para repudiar los actuales acontecimientos, fueron agredidos aproximadamente a las 15:30 horas de este día con ráfagas de armas de alto poder. De ahí se llevaron a un compañero.
· Es inminente el ingreso de la policía a Radio Universidad para continuar con las detenciones.
· Retenes policíacos están revisando los vehículos en inmediaciones de la universidad.
· El día de ayer fue incendiado el edificio donde se encuentran las oficinas de Nueva Izquierda Oaxaqueña.
· En la medida que se acerca la noche aumentan las denuncias de agresiones y detenciones arbitrarias.

En Oaxaca no hay libertad de manifestación, ni de expresión libre de las ideas, ni de tránsito, ni de comunicación, ni de información, ni de organización… para quien no apoya a Ulises Ruiz Ortiz, sólo sus esbirros y asesinos cuentan con total impunidad para golpear, matar, saquear, incendiar y hasta de tener una radio clandestina.

Hacemos un llamado:
· A los organismos internacionales y nacionales de Derechos Humanos a pronunciarse contra estos hechos lamentables;
· A las organizaciones internacionales a seguir manifestándose en las embajadas y consulados de nuestro país y a presionar a sus gobiernos para romper relaciones comerciales con México por ser un país donde se violan abiertamente los derechos humanos;
· A los sindicatos y organizaciones nacionales a realizar acciones contundentes para evitar que se generalice esta situación en el país con l a llegada de Felipe Calderón.
