Police raid anarchist media collective 3 days before NYC film festival

The Fourth Annual Anarchist Film Festival in being held on Friday April
16th, 2010 in New York City. This year?s festival is being held to honor
the life and work of Brad Will, a film-maker and movement activist
allegedly assassinated by the Mexican government in Oaxaca on October 27th,
2006, as he was filming a popular uprising.

On April 13th, according to a statement put out by members of the
Independent Anarchist Media (I AM) Collective:

?in Brooklyn NY, the NYPD entered without a warrant 13 Thames Art Space, a
Bushwick based art and performance space where members of the Independent
Anarchist Media (I AM) Collective have been organizing the Fourth Annual
NYC Anarchist Film Festival in honor of Brad Will.

Two plainclothes detectives entered first, followed quickly by a Lieutenant
and vans full of blue shirt officers. After corralling everyone present in
the back room, they searched the space and detained two members of the
collective.

There are two main ways you can show support at this time. Thank you all
for the signatures! The showing of support from around the world will
surely help our case and hopefully demonstrate to the UCOP how difficult
it is going to be for them to continue this repression of us.

1. Write a letter expressing your concerns about this issue, supporting
our research, calling for an end to the investigations and an end to the

2. Please come to UCSD on April 8th at 10:30am and show your support with
a rally outside of the meeting between Ricardo Dominguez and the Vice
Chancellor. As of now, we think the meeting will be in Grant Kester's
office, Mandevilla 209, on the 2nd floor. A map to the Mandeville building

to know how broad and determined the support for Ricardo is! Let's fill
the courtyard, the stairs and the first floor open area! Please come and
bring friends! The Vice Chancellor is pushing to have the meeting at his
