        STRATEGIES OF RESISTANCE
       This is a web-project which
is developing in relation to a series of conversations regarding Artists/Collectives/Politics.
While its organizational axis will be a growing set of questions and their
resulting threads of discussion/exchang'e, there will also be links to
the various groups and individuals involved. The idea is to engage these
issues while creating new realtionships and networks between groups and
individuals who would otherwise remain isolated. This resource/platform
will be active starting January 15th, although a first public forum already
happened on at 16 Beaver 5th fl, New York on December 13th, 2002.

QUESTIONS REGARDING ART, POLITICS,COLLECTIVES, AND COLABORATION (Please Add to these questions by writing
        to strategies@16beavergroup.org)
  Is collective practice inherently more
        political than individualpractice?
What issues do you feel are most pressing
today forcultural workers concerned with politics?
What do you feel cultural workers can/should
be doingin the current atmosphere of right wing nationalisms
 and unquestioned U.S. Conservatism (worldwide)?
  What collectives/initiatives have been
        formative to your practice? Why?
How can we bridge generational/age divisions
        amonggenerally sympathetic political viewpoints?
What is civil disobedience today? How
can previousforms of civil disobedience be reformulated and
 practiced now?
How can we work against the social and
politicalrestrictions imposed by market identities, academic
institutions, museums and galleries, corporate and
state funding, media censorship, protest regulations,
 etc?
  What tactics/strategies of political
or collective practice from pastexperiences do you find useful/useless?
What problems have you had when asked
to present workoutside of its intended social context/format? What strategies have
 helped you overcome this problem?
